Invention patents require higher technical content, especially higher requirements for novelty and creativity, and high stability of rights after authorization.

An invention patent application has to go through five stages of acceptance, preliminary examination, publication, substantive examination and authorization/rejection, and it generally takes at least 18 months for the application result to be issued.

The term of protection of an invention patent shall be 20 years.
